A vital artery of transportation for Midtown Improvement District residents and a center of recreation, The SoPac Trail is a wonderful 5.5 mile intraurban trail connector in Midtown Improvement District that is based on a historic unused rail bed of the Southern Pacific railroad. The SoPac is a connector trail to many active trails in the Dallas trail system.
The SoPac intersects with the 1.4 mile Flag Pole Hill Trail, which runs east to Flag Pole Hill Park; the Ridgewood Trail, which heads west and provides acccess to the Katy Trail; the 9-mile White Rock Lake Trail loop. The SoPac Trail ends with a connection to the Santa Fe Trail, a 4.7 mile rail-trail. And more trail links are planned in the future: the SoPac Trail will connect with the Cottonwood Creek and White Rock Creek trails.
The SoPac's beautiful trees make it a wonderful place to walk and ride, and Midtown Improvement District is honored to be leading the management, improvements and maintenance of this wonderful Dallas amenity and natural setting treasure.
Midtown Improvement District has provided $122,500 funding to aid City of Dallas with 170 lights on the trail. We are currently spending $48,500 to design trailhead amenities on the SoPac.
Midtown Improvement District also funds security patrol seven days a week on the SoPac Trail.
